Sedgwick County officials ask the Kansas Division of Emergency Management for 100,000 sandbags to hold back flood waters from recent storms.
The sandbags will be obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fall River Lake, southeast of Eureka in Greenwood County.
Butler County requested the same amount; half of those bags went to the city of Augusta. Harper County also requested sandbags. It received 6,000.
As of 8 a.m. on May 1, only the southeast region of the state continued to be under flood watches or warnings. The 23 counties still under flood advisories are:
The Kansas Department of Transportation lists only one highway closed due to flooding. K-152 in Linn County is closed west of La Cygne. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
