A Pratt County industrial worker is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital with burns he suffered in a workplace explosion.

Pratt County Emergency Manager Marc McManaman tell us the victim and another man were working at Central Kansas Crude, a steel building near the airport. Just after 3:00 something sparked some fumes from a semi truck inside and caused the blast.

Airport Manager Reid Bell says the explosion was powerful enough to blow out the front wall of the building and put a bulge in the back.

Another worker suffered minor injuries. He refused treatment at the scene.

An investigator with the Kansas State Fire Marshal's office will look for a cause.
