6-Year-Old Killed, Teen Driver Hurt In Crash

A 6-year-old has died, the victim of crash in Seward County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol online report, the boy, Eduardo Moreno, was in the car with a 15-year-old driver who was headed west on a county road just outside Liberal, about 15 minutes before midnight last night. The teen was wearing a seat belt.  Investgiators are still trying to figure out if the child was. 

Investigators say the driver lost control of the car and slid into the north ditch. The vehicle then began to roll, eventually throwing the 6-year-old out of the car and causing the fatal injuries.  The driver was also hurt and taken to Southwest Medical Center.

Troop E spokesperson Technical Trooper Ron Knoefel says investigators are still waiting to release whether the teen was driving legally.
