Consumer Warning About Door-to-Door Alarm Sales

The Better Business Bureau in Wichita warns people of door to door sales of alarm systems.

The organization says it keeps getting calls from consumers about Pinnacle Alarm system sales.  Consumers tell the Better Business Bureau that Pinnacle sales imply  that CastleRock Security has gone out of business and as result they need to install a new box and need a voided check to start debiting monthly charges.

The bureau says, as of Tuesday, Pinnacle is still not licensed properly in the City of Wichita.

The Better Business Bureau has contacted CastleRock Security and they issued the following statement:

Arlington Heights, IL -- CastleRock Security, Inc. has been advised by the Better Business Bureau of Southeast, Central & Western Kansas that representatives of Pinnacle Security of Orem, Utah have been approaching CastleRock's customers and misrepresenting to these customers that CastleRock Security has gone out of business.  These imposters then attempt to remove the CastleRock security equipment and attempt to obtain a blank, voided check so that they can start billing withdrawals from the customers' checking accounts.

Brian Johnson, President and CEO of CastleRock Security, reiterated today that these blatant misrepresentations are absolutely untrue.  Mr. Johnson further suggested that anyone making such misrepresentations should be immediately reported to the Wichita Police Department Financial Crimes Section (316-268-4211), the Consumer Protection Division in the Kansas Attorney General's Office (800-432-2310), the Wichita Better Business Bureau (316-263-3146), and CastleRock Security (800-705-7681).

Mr. Johnson noted that CastleRock Security acquired the assets of Security Associates International, Inc. ("SAI") in late 2008 and, as has been indicated in several letters previously sent to its customers, CastleRock Security has been providing security monitoring services to its customers without interruption since that time.  He further noted that other common misrepresentations made by these imposters included the suggestion that the customers' account was not being monitored, and that the customer's security equipment required upgrading.

Mr. Johnson asked that any customer -- should they be confronted with a door-to-door sales person purporting to be a CastleRock representative or making any of the above misrepresentations, regardless of how sincere the sales person may appear -- please contact CastleRock Security immediately at 800-705-7681.
