If you thought you saw some celebrities in east Wichita this Tuesday night, you're right.
Dozens gathered for an all star triathlon at All Star Adventures. Teams competed in such things as slick track racing, mini golf and a putting contest.
It's wasn't just for fun. Proceeds from the event benefit Kyle Hick's bone marrow transplant expenses.
Kyle has the inherited skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). EB is a painful disease. People born with EB lack the anchoring fibrils that hold the layers of skin together.
Celebrities included Mayor Carl Brewer, Sheriff Bob Hinshaw, Gregg Marshall, and our own Cindy Klose and Michael Schwanke.
Hicks needs to raise about $500,000 to receive the treatment he needs. Click here to learn more about Kyle, his condition, and how you can help.
From Susan Johnson with Team Kyle:
Team Kyle had a successful day at the CAST Party fundraiser for Kyle Hicks. Dawson Grimsley and Joe Self each made $1,000 pledges for the event. Roger Scholfield made a $1000 donation yesterday. That will bring our Team Kyle total for last night to $5,720! A big thank you to everyone who came out to help! It was great fun to see all the "famous faces" in one place at one time! It was obvious they all came to have fun, but more importantly, to support Kyle in his quest for a bone marrow transplant. KSN, and the Athletes' team (including Mike & Mark Bell & Greg Marshall) tied for first place, KAKE and KWCH tied for second place. All the celebrities seemed to enjoy themselves, and took the competition in a light-hearted manner. I hope it was a positive experience for all of them. It was a great evening!
