Kansas Firefighters Receive Grant Money

Sedgwick County firefighters receive grant money to improve homeland security.

The county was awarded $20,085 by the 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The annoucement comes from the Office of Sen. Pat Roberts.

"I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve firefighting efforts and first responder needs in Kansas.  It's imperative to support our local fire departments," says Roberts.

Osage county also recieved funding through the program.

A total of $71,400 was given out.
