Illness Shuts Down More Kansas Schools

By Megahn Snyder (GREENSBURG, Kan.)

Illness is shutting down more Kansas classrooms.

According to the USD 422 website, school is cancelled until Friday at two schools: Delmar Day Elementary in Greensburg and the junior high school in Mullinville.

Classes are still in session at Greensburg High School where absences are at about ten percent.

District Superintendent Darren Headrick says close to 50 percent of students Kindergarten through 8th Grade were sick Monday. That's why he chose to cancel school, beginning Tuesday.

Headrick says it's still not clear whether K-8 students will come back Friday, as it's scheduled now. He's talking with local health officials about whether to cancel classes for that day too. If that happens, students would return to school Monday.
