Kansas Health Departments Work to Distribute H1N1 Vaccine

Health Departments across Kansas continue to receive shipments of H1N1 Flu Vaccine and are working on distributing those vaccines to high-risk groups. But, officials stress is you want a vaccine you need to be patient since supplies are limited.

  • Seward County Health Department: says they are receiving about 400 doses of the H1N1 vaccine a week. Most of those are being given to health care workers and pregnant women. They are also planning a clinic at a Liberal elementary school Thursday for students whose parents already filled out consent forms.
  • Ellis County Health Department: says they are getting about 350 doses a week. Most of those vaccines are going to health care workers, pregnant women and young children. The Ellis County Health Department has already held some clinics for students at area elementary schools, including one Tuesday afternoon at Victoria Grade School and one Wednesday at Lincoln Grade School.
  • Sherman County Health Department: reports having a limited supply of H1N1 vaccine. Officials there say the priority groups will be health care workers, pregnant women, people who live or care for infants younger than six months, children 6 months through four-years-old and children and adolescents 5 to 18 years old with medical conditions that put them at risk for complications related to flu.
  • Finney County Health Department: will hold vaccine clinics for children six months to 18-years-old this Wednesday and Thursday at the Clarion Inn at 1911 E. Kansas. The clinic will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or until the department runs out of this week's shipment of vaccine. Department sfficials say they are receiving about 500 doses of the H1N1 vaccine each week.
