Four Wichita schools gave out around 700 vaccines Friday.
The schools that will have the vaccine clinics on November 19th are: Gardiner, Linwood, Payne, Buckner and Chisholm Trail.
The schools that will have the vaccine clinics on November 20th are: Franklin, Lawrence, Harry Street, Lincoln, Stanley, Mueller.
Earhart will have its clinic on Nov. 24.
Update - Friday 10:00 am:
The district says more vaccine has arrived, and more schools will start vaccinating next week. Parents of students at the schools below will receive permission slips early next week.
Franklin, Payne, Stanley, Lincoln, Buckner, Mueller, Chisholm Trail, Earhart, Gardner, Lawrence, Linwood and Harry Street.
Reporter Video: Preparing for H1N1 Vaccines at Wichita's Peterson Elementary
Some Wichita students will have an opportunity to receive the H1N1 vaccine in school Friday. The Sedgwick County Health Department will have H1N1 vaccine clinics at McCollom, Peterson, Benton and Kensler Elementary Schools.
The district says the vaccines are not mandatory. Students were sent home with permission slips earlier this week in order to receive the vaccine.
A school spokesperson says while Peterson students wait for their vaccine, they will learn hand washing techniques, how to cough into their sleeves, and other hygiene tips.
After McCollom students receive their vaccine, they will get a treat bag with Smarties, because they were smart to get vaccinated; Live Savers, because getting a vaccine will stop the spread of H1N1 and save lives; and erasers because the students are helping erase the spread of the virus.
The goal is to vaccinate all Wichita students in the coming weeks, but it's not known when enough vaccine will be available.
The district says fewer students are staying home sick in November compared to October, but encourage parents and health care workers not to let their guard down.
