Fog Leads to Deadly Accident in Rush County

by Robert Marin (RUSH COUNTY, Kan.)

A blanket of fog may be to blame for a deadly accident in Rush County. The accident happened at 8:25 Monday morning along U.S. 183 in Liebenthal.

Map of Location

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Jennifer Wylie from Hays was driving north on the highway, and was passing a vehicle in the fog. Investigators say she did not see an on-coming pick-up and the two collided head-on.

Wylie died at the scene; the driver of the pick-up was hurt and taken to a hospital in Hays. Investigators say Wylie was not wearing a seat belt.
