Christmas Tree Recycling
                Now – January 31^st
                The City of Dodge City will be accepting real Christmas trees for recycling until Jan. 31.  Real trees can be dropped off at the collection site at Santa Fe Ave. and Park St.  Dodge City residents will have curbside pick up of real Christmas trees from Jan. 14 – 25 on their regular sanitation route schedule.  This program is only for real Christmas trees.  The Parks Department will turn the trees into mulch for use in City parks.  For more information call (620) 225-8148.

Garden City Animal Shelter Ribbon Cutting

                The new Garden City/Finney County Animal Shelter, located at 124 Fleming Street, is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its grand opening at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the public will be free to take tours of the new facility.  The opening of the new facility represents the culmination of three long years of planning and cooperation between Finney County, the City of Garden City, the Finney County Humane Society and a host of other agencies throughout the community.

 Coffee, Donuts & a Movie
                February 2^nd
                Each first Tuesday of the month Dodge City Public Library sponsors a program titled "Coffee, Donuts & a Movie" at 9:30am. The movies vary from the old classics to some newer releases, from comedy to a drama. Everyone is invited to come and join in the fellowship as they watch the movie and enjoy the donuts and coffee.  The movie on Tuesday, February 2nd, tells the story of Jane Austen's classic novel, set in nineteenth century England, about the rather unsuccessful attempts at matchmaking carried out by a beautiful young woman on her unsuspecting friends. The movie stars actress Gwyneth Paltrow and won an Oscar for Best Music, Original Musical or Comedy Score in 1997.  Come to Dodge City Public Library on February 2nd for a time of fellowship and enjoyment.
