Main Street Public Meeting
                November 19th
                We would like to invite you to an informational meeting regarding the Kansas Main Street Program on November 19th at the Depot Theater, 101 E. Wyatt Earp.  Representatives from the State of Kansas, as well as a panel of downtown representatives from other Main Street communities, will be on hand to discuss the opportunities the Main Street program has to offer in revitalizing the Downtown Dodge area.  If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by November 16th to Chelsey Fisher at 620-227-9501 or cfisher@dodgedev.org.  

Christian Women’s After Five Club Meeting
                December 1st
                The Christian Women’s After Five Club Meeting is Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm at the Manor of the Plains Community Room.  The theme is “Twinkling Lights” with special music guests the Dodge City High School Orchestral String Quartet and they will be performing “Sparkling Renditions.”  The guest speak is Laurel Davidson from Wichita, Kansas that will talk about “Light that Lasts.”  The cost is $6 for dessert and inspirational program.  For reservations call Glennis Smith at 225-6921 or Bobbie Cave at 227-5391. 

Spearville Christmas Bazaar & Downtown Shopping
            December 5th
            The Annual Spearville Christmas Bazaar and Downtown Shopping has been scheduled for Saturday, December 5th from 11am to 3pm.  Make your way to Spearville that day and find some unique Christmas gifts.  Hope to see you there!

Boot Hill Museum Holiday Sampler
                December 5th
                Boot Hill Museum would like to invite any local group, business, or individual to participate in the 2009 Holiday Sampler.  Participants are asked to decorate a table with a Holiday Theme of their choice and bring 150 bite size desserts.  Guests of the Sampler will view, sample, and then vote on their favorite table.  The table with the most votes will receive a prize of $205 to go to their non-profit group/business or favorite charity.  Boot Hill Museum will provide table and serving utensils, if needed.  All proceeds of the Holiday Sampler go to help fund Boot Hill Museum projects.  Interested parties can contact Macee at Boot Hill Museum at 620-227-8188 or email tour@bootbill.org.

Journey to Bethlehem
                December 12th & 13th
                Travel through first century Bethlehem and experience the original Christmas.  Meet the Wisemen, census taker, tax collector, inn keepers, shepherds, and angels.  Pass through the gates of Bethlehem, come upon a marketplace complete with live animals, and encounter Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child.  These tours are December 12th & 13th anytime between 5:30 & 8:30 pm at the Jetmore United Methodist Church.  Each tour takes 30 minutes.  Tours for those with special needs at 5 pm.  Admission is free.  Dress warmly as some scenes are outside.

Christmasing In Plains
                December 13th
                In a major change the community event known as Christmasing In Plains is scheduled for the second Sunday of December rather than the traditional second Saturday in December.  The 42nd Christmasing In Plains parade starts at 4 pm.  The theme of the parade is “The Greatest Wonder of All.”  Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Plains as will the Snowflake King and Queen.  The kids can visit with Santa and ride the Lions Kiddy Train.  There will be a Hay Scramble for the kids.  Also, there’s a chance for everyone to enjoy the Whole Hog Roast at the Lions meal after the parade in the Plains State Bank’s Community room.  It will be a great time on Plains on Sunday, December 13th.
