Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he accepts an apology from Kansas Senator Sam Brownback for an e-mail critical of his Mormon religion.
A campaign aide for Brownback sent the email to Iowa GOP leaders.
Romney says Brownback called him today to apologize, and the two agree that religious attacks don't have any place in politics.
Brownback is a former Methodist who converted to Roman Catholicism.
Earlier Monday, Brownback kicked off a four-day, 1,200-mile tour through Iowa. The tour features visits to city parks and town squares in a bus plastered with his name.
His wife and two children are along for the ride.
