by Kim WilhelmPolitical parodies are popping up all over the Internet. Now a former Wichita woman is making headlines for a video about Hillary Clinton. East High graduate Taryn Southern created a spoof video called "Hott 4 Hill". In it, she sings and dances, professing her love and support to the presidential candidate.
Southern says she got the idea after watching another spoof video. "I Got A Crush...On Obama" is written about presidential candidate Barrack Obama. Southern says she wrote her song in about an hour. It's quickly become a popular video on YouTube.
Southern is a Wichita East graduate and a former American Idol contestant. She's currently living in Los Angeles pursuing a career in television and movies. Since "Hott4Hill" hit the Internet, she's been in high demand. She did interviews on network news shows and emphasizes she wrote the song for fun - not for political reasons. But it hasn't stopped people from reading meaning into it.
"The Republican conservatives think that it was done to hurt Hillary and that it makes her look bad," said Southern. "The Democrats think the video makes her look good and it will help her get gay and lesbian voters. It's all this ridiculous analysis that follows the video when I never even thought about it that way."
Southern is heterosexual. She says some people don't realize the video is a joke and really believe she's an obsessed Clinton fan.
"There was a guy that was talking about how my video will impact the election and how it will impact the stock market," said Southern.
No word from the Clinton camp about the video spoof. Southern says if the former First Lady does see it, she hopes she laughs.
