An Alabama man deployed from Ft. Riley is the latest casualty in the war in Iraq. Private First Class James J. Harrelson died Tuesday in Baghdad.
The Army says Harrelson died when an improvised explosive device blew up. Harrelson joined the military in July of 2006 and deployed to Iraq in December.
Harrelson was an infantryman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. He was from Alabama.
Harrelson is the 117th soldier from Ft. Riley to died since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began.
