"On your newscast whenever you go to a segment that is produced by CBS News with their reporters, you always say they are Eyewitness News reporters and label them as such on their identification. Why do you do this when they are not associated or employed by channel 12? I don't believe anyone is fooled into thinking KWCH has Washington and international correspondents.
Wouldn't it be just as easy to say 'CBS News correspondent_____has the story'?"
Actually, we ARE associated with CBS News and CNN, which gives us access to their reporter stories. We can also request what are called "customized outcues" which is what you refer to.
No, we don't think we're fooling anybody, but using those allows us to have consistent outcues and reporter identifications on our newscasts....rather than have some stories end with CBS NEWS, some with CNN and some with Eyewitness News.
It's not a big deal, but we just think it keeps us cleaner and more consistent.
Thanks for the question.
