I suppose it's natural that when something grinds on for years like our overseas military efforts have, they tend to take up less space on the news, and in our minds.
But this week, Kansans got another grim reminder of what those efforts can cost.
Sergeant Ralph Mena of Hutchinson was killed in Iraq in what the military terms a non-combat incident. Ralph was 27-years-old, and just married his wife Amber on Valentines Day.
Elsewhere on our website you can read the beautiful message Amber left us describing her husband.
Let's not forget that Ralph is one of several thousand american military personell to lose their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each death is tragic, and life-changing for family and friends.
Those survivors deserve our support and prayers.
