You've probably heard something along those lines. The internet is killing television, etc. But you might be interested in some new survey numbers.
Let me first say the survey was commissioned by TVB, the TeleVision Bureau...which obviously has a vested interest in the television business. But still...here are the numbers.
On the particular day of the survey, television reached more people 18 and over than any other medium...by far.
89.5% of those people were reached by television, compared to 67.5% by the interneet and 60.6% by radio.
Newspapers, magazines, and mobile trailed farther behind. Those people also reported spending more time with television each day, 319-minutes, than the other media.
Again, internet was second in this category with 156-minutes.
Consider the results as you will...it seems the death of the television industry is greatly exaggerated.
