Kim Hynes is the Digital Content Manager for KWCH. She works with reporters, photographers and producers to post conent to kwch.com along with the KWCH Facebook and Twitter pages.
Before moving to the web in October of 2011, Kim spent nine years reporting for KWCH. She started as a bureau reporter in Hays. After a year there, she moved to Wichita and began covering a variety of stories. She helped cover the arrest of BTK killer Dennis Rader. Kim reported on the devastating tornados in Chapman and Greensburg. She also covers all of the developments with the Sumner County casino, the Wichita City Council and the Sedgwick County Commission.
Kim began her career in Scottsbluff, NE where she worked as a reporter, photographer and anchor. She enjoyed the opportunity to learn all aspects of the business but really developed a passion for reporting.
Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Kim became fascinated by small towns across Kansas. In 2007, Kim traveled the state highlighting the 24 Wonders of Kansas finalists. She enjoyed getting the chance to meet so many different people working so hard to keep their small towns alive. That series earned Kim and her photographer a regional Emmy nomination. Kim has also won several Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards for both news reporting and features.
When not working, you'll often find Kim in the kitchen trying out new recipes. Her banana bread is a favorite in the newsroom. She also enjoys reading, working out and keeping up with family and friends back home.
