Marielkis was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela but moved to Orlando, Fl ten years ago.
There she had the chance to enjoy theme parks and NASA shuttle launches and she obtained her degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Central Florida.
Marielkis brings to Wichita a feel of the vibrant Hispanic life of Florida, a place where people from the Caribbean and South America share their culture and experiences.
She is excited to be part of the first Spanish newscast in Kansas. She believes the newscast is very important for all Hispanics in the state.
Whenever Marielkis is not reading Spanish literature, you can find her exercising or dancing (merengue is her favorite style). She also enjoys eating Mediterranean food, especially Lebanese and Turkish dishes.
Marielkis also likes to travel. She says, there's nothing better than watching the sunset in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico; drinking Colombian coffee in El Eje Cafetero, Colombia or admiring the ruins of the Maya civilization in Mexico.
