We had an interesting but troubling situation in the Eyewitness newsroom recently.

You may have heard the story of the grain elevator collapse in Russell that killed two men.

Not long after the tragedy, an official notified us that both the bodies had been found.

We provided that information on our website and on the air.

But before much time had passed, that official called back.

It seems all the family members of the victims hadn't been notified, and he wanted us to take that part of the story out.

While we quickly changed our webstory and on-air script, the earlier information was already out there.

It's a sad case of... you can't unring a bell.

We felt badly about it, but in this day of almost-instant news, this type of thing is going to happen more and more often.
