So close. Kansas native Clint Bowyer was so close to breaking his winless streak last week at Martinsville Speedway. The 15 car was out front when the final caution flag of the day flew, but a subsequent bad pit stop relegated him to a ninth place finish.

Now it’s off to Texas a track that has been so-so for Bowyer. He has three top fives and nine top tens in 16 career starts in the lone star state. His best finish was a second in 2011 and after struggling early in his career at intermediate tracks, Bowyer is getting stronger on the fast track now.

“I think if our car was fast at Vegas then I’m pretty excited about going to Texas, Charlotte and those tracks,” said Bowyer. “We had good speed in our car at Vegas and I think that’s what it takes to go fast on those big, fast high-banked race tracks. You just have to go.”

If you are looking for Bowyer’s car this weekend, it will have a different look. The race at Texas is called the Duck Commander 500 and Bowyer will carry a special paint scheme of the company that inspired the tv series ‘Duck Dynasty.’ Bowyer appeared on that reality show last fall.

““I’m looking forward to seeing those guys. They are great,” said Bowyer. “I had a good time being on their show. They tease me a lot about it but it was fun. It’s amazing how many people watched it. Anyway, looking forward to the weekend. Hope we can have a big old party in victory lane.”
