So for Kansas native Clint Bowyer, Indianapolis was a mixed bag. The 15 car ran well for a large portion of the race, but a 16th place finish was a disappointing end.
“We had a shot at the win last weekend,” said Bowyer. “Just a frustrating end of the race for us. (Brian) Pattie gave me a good car. We just had some things go wrong on pit road at the end– got grass on my grill. Again, frustrating but we ran up front all day and hopefully that will translate again this weekend.”
This weekend, NASCAR makes its second trip of the season to Pocono. Bowyer was 11th went the Sprint Cup Series made its first stop of the season at the tricky triangle in June. He has seven top tens and a career best finish of third at Pocono.
“I’m ready to go back to Pocono,” said Bowyer. “It was actually looking like we may have a top five there in June but Logano blew up in front of us with like 10 laps to go and I lost spots trying to get out of the way. Just our luck this year. But the good news is our Toyota was good and it should be again this weekend.”
Bowyer remains in the hunt for a spot in the Chase for the Championship. He is 10th in the regular points standings and currently 14th on the chase grid.
