Look at that beautiful family photo. Isn’t everything you would expect life to be this season at Stewart-Haas racing? You have a head strong owner/driver in Tony Stewart, three drivers in Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick and Kurt Busch that could also be described as headstrong.

One might think that’s a recipe for great internal conflict inside the race team. Well Stewart hates to disappoint you but…

“I think everybody what their first though is actually the opposite of what the reality of it is,” said the owner/driver. “We’re a great support system for each other.”

Wait what? You mean they all get along? How can that be?

“What everyone is overlooking is the fact we have four alpha drivers here that have alpha personalities,” said Stewart. “The great thing is we all have the advantage of understanding each other, having similar personalities like this.”

But I mean come on. Can this really work? All four drivers have such a reputation for being hot heads at times, that is just seems just a matter of time before they turn on each other. Heck some already have. The boss man says, that is the past, now it kumbaya and understanding.

“Every one of us up here has had our battles at some time, either with each other or you guys or whatever the group has been that the battle has been with,” said Stewart. “But we all understand and can relate. So everyone of us up here can understand what somebody else is going through and be a great support system.”

I get what he is saying. But we will see.  Being a type A personality myself (I know shocking), I know is just a matter of time before you clash with other type A’s that you work with. Even if you like them.

Smoke is not concerned, because they are a family, a team.

“That’s what teams are about support," said Stewart. "So I think when the majority of you guys are leaning on that angle of it’s got the opportunity to be a disaster, we look at it as an opportunity to be a huge positive and a great match.”
