Instead of using paper sacks, be creative and fill jars with your favorite holiday treats (purchased or made)!

Here are some suggestions:

Fill the dry ingredients of a cookie recipe in a glass jar, layering each ingredient.

Attach directions on how to add the dry to wet ingredients and baking instructions.

Fill other jars with granola mix, nuts, your favorite candy or anything unique.

Attach a ribbon around the jar and top with a bow.

You can put different-size jars filled with goodies in a basket, lined with a holiday cloth napkin.

You can purchase or make your own bread to add height to the basket.

Here's a cookie recipe you can put in the jar.

Andrea's Heavenly Cookies

Dry ingredients:

2 cups flour

One-half cup chopped pecans or nuts of choice

One-half cup dried cranberries

Put in a small baggie and add to jar: 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar (to roll cookies)

Wet ingredients:

2 sticks of butter, softened

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Mix dry and wet ingredients. Roll into balls about 1 teaspoon in size. Bake at 375 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet or parchment paper for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. While warm, roll cookies in powdered sugar. Yields 3 dozen.
