(DENVER, Colo.)—
(AP)- A California company is recalling packages of baby spinach that could be contaminated with E. coli.
The spinach was sold under five different labels in 36 states, including Kansas.
The labels subject to the voluntary recall are Simple Truth Organic, Marketside Organic, Taylor Farms, Central Market Organics and Full Circle. The recalled products all have “best by" dates of Feb. 24, 2013, and were sold in 5-ounce and 16-ounce trays.
Salinas-based Taylor Farms Retail says no illnesses have been reported.
EHEC is a rare, but deadly strain of bacteria. In 2011, an EHEC outbreak sickened more than 1,600 and killed 19 people in Europe.
