A new expansion project begins for an organization in downtown Wichita.
Ground was broken Wednesday morning for the new Kansas Leadership Center and Kansas Health Foundation Conference Center.
The 36,000 sq. foot center is being built just east of the current Health Foundation office on Douglas between Broadway and Topeka. The project is the first part of the city’s master plan for downtown revitalization and redevelopment.
Plans include a town-hall style meeting space and classrooms for leadership center programs. There's also room left for both organizations to expand.
The 300 block of E. Douglas will also be home to the Ambassador Hotel. It opens later this year.
