It's a quiet Sunday afternoon in Wichita's Old Town. "I'm going to a poetry thing tonight," Alex One says.

"I love Old Town," Courtney Hurley says.  "It's incredible."

But a shootout between a gunman and police made for a very different scene here early Saturday morning.

Many of the details we don't know.  What we do know is that police chased a man with a gun to the parking garage of the Hotel at Old Town.  Then there was gunfire.  Five people in all ended up shot, one is dead.  It all started after a fight broke out in the street among a large crowd.

"I think does reflect very badly on the downtown area," Hurley says.  "I know they've beefed up security and all that and it's been a lot better, but to have something like that happen is not what you want happening in the downtown area."

But One says the shooting won't deter him from continuing to hang out in Old Town every weekend.

"Every now and then people get rowdy from drinking and stuff," One says.  "You can't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch."

Police say they'll release more details this week on the shootout.
