"That'd be good. Be here early. Be here for the best deals," said Francisco Montes, who was shopping at Towne East Square Sunday.
"That's crazy," disagreed Nellie Green, another shopper. "I wouldn't go."
They were reacting to the news that Wichita's malls, Towne East and Towne West Squares, will be opening at midnight Friday for Black Friday shopping. What do you think about stores opening-up early for Black Friday?
Black Friday is starting even earlier this year. On Thanksgiving for some stores. Target plans to repeat its Thursday opening despite complaints from employees. And this year Walmart is starting to run Black Friday deals at 8 p.m. Other stores have pushed their times up to midnight, like the malls.
"I think it should still be, like, midnight's ok 'cause it's Friday at midnight," said Haley Shannon, who has to work Black Friday. "I go in at 11 p.m. on Thursday night and I don't get off until 1 o'clock on Friday afternoon."
Just because the mall's opening at midnight doesn't mean your favorite store is. More than half have agreed to open early. Others still haven't decided.
Many stores that won't be opening on Thursday are still planning to run online deals, to try to capture some of those early shoppers.
