By now, we've all seen the ads encouraging us to get out early for the best deals on black Friday.  But some businesses want you to think about Saturday.

Many local busineses are taking part in "Small Business Saturday."  It's to encourage shoppers to buy local.  And for some, it's become a part of the holiday ritual.

Hephner TV & Electronics say its participated for the last four years. It offers black Friday and Saturday deals.

"How can you compete with some of those bigger stores like Best Buy and Walmart?" asks Eyewitness News Reporter Sia Nyorkor.

"Well, we're the biggest independent store in the state, so we get the same cost sheet on those models. Their overhead is a lot less so we can compete well in price and on the other hand we compete much better on service," says Greg Hephner, owner of the store.

He tries to compete by offering other services like free delivery and set up.

Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce says its on board with the effort. About 80% of its members are small business owners.

"Small business are really the heart and soul of America's economy and Wichita's no different from that and we really encourage everyone to get out on "Small Business Saturday" and support those independent businesses.

While people get in lines at some of the bigger stores like Best Buy, Sam's Club and Walmart, some of the smaller places hope shoppers save a few dollars to buy local.
