Woofstock, the Kansas Humane Society’s largest annual fundraising event, was the “Ulti-Mutt” place to be for thousands of local canines and their owners on Saturday, October 5.
The 17th annual outdoor festival once again celebrated ‘Peace, Love, & Pooches’ at the Sedgwick County Park in Wichita.
The pet-friendly event kicked-off with the Woofstock Walk at 10:00 AM, where owners and their pooches took a casual 1.5 mile walk around the park.
Festive dog activities continued throughout the day with a Best Dressed Costume Contest, Ruff Races For All Dogs, Sheep Herding, Water Retrieval, Musical Chairs and more.
The event included enjoyable activities for canine owners as well, including a silent auction, food court, live music from Annie Up, and a Paws & Play Kidz Zone.
Over 80 vendors were set up throughout the event offering anything and everything related to the four-legged creatures.
To celebrate 125 years of saving animal lives, the event provided a new opportunity for guests to receive their very own personalized Woofstock T-shirt. Those who raised over $125 for the fundraiser, received a personalized T-shirt with a photo of their own pet or team.
The proceeds raised from this year’s fundraiser will help care for the 16,000+ animals that come through the shelter’s doors every year.
General admission was a $5.00 suggested donation, however attendees were encouraged to register as an official Woofstock participant by giving $25 or more in donations.
You can always donate money to the shelter online on the Kansas Humane Society website.
