More than 20 inches of snow fell in some areas. Power outages, school and business closings, motorists stranded on roadways and public transit disruptions complicated life in the city and suburbs.

Suicide by snow? Dibs on a parking spot? The pair of legs sticking out of a snowbank at Oak Park and Stanley in Berwyn were placed outside George's Tavern as a joke and have amused passersby for days.
