The Orpheum has recently announced popular classical, religious vocal trio, The Priests, will perform at 8 p.m. on Dec. 4.
When The Priests released their eponymously-titled album in 2008, they could have had little inkling of what was about to happen to them. As it transpired, plenty did - huge record sales, record-breaking triumphs and global fame.
Now, four years on, Frs Martin O'Hagan, Eugene O'Hagan and David Delargy are amongst the most recognized and successful acts in both the religious and secular worlds. Their debut album, sold at such a pace, it secured them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-selling classical debut ever.
They fascinated the global media and graced the pages of all manner of publications including Time magazine, sharing sofa space with TV hosts the world over. They have sung to audiences that include the British Royal Family and the Irish President. They were nominated for Classical Brit Awards for Classical Album of the Year for three consecutive years and in September 2010, the Priests shared a stage with Pope Benedict XIV before a crowd of 80,000 people in London’s Hyde Park. Millions more watched on television.
Catch a preview of the vocal trio at 7 p.m. on Sept. 16 when local PBS affiliate, KPTS Channel 8, airs the concert special The Priests: Live at Metropolitan Cathedral. The performance on Dec. 4 will include several holiday songs.
