Freezing temperatures didn’t stop runners from bundling up and participating in Wichita’s Turkey Trot’s 10-mile and 2-mile race on Sunday, November 24.
This year, the event celebrated its 38th annual year, making it Wichita’s oldest and most historic running events.
The event included a two-mile and ten-mile option, which took runners on a scenic route path along Exploration Place, Keeper of the Plains, the Arkansas River, Century II and Waterwalk.
The Turkey Trot included two new additions to this year’s race. The first 2,000 participants to register received a Nike technical long sleeve shirt and one Honeysuckle White Turkey.
As a yearly tradition, the Turkey Trot continues to assist the Kansas Foodbank and asks all runners to bring an 18 oz. jar of peanut butter to give to the Foodbank's holiday food drive.
