A former Troutville volunteer fire chief has plead no contest to drug charges.
Kevin Graham Sweet entered the plea Tuesday morning to multiple charges of embezzling drugs.
According to prosecutors, the 38-year-old took morphine from an ambulance on three separate instances starting back in May.
Under the plea, the judge will take the matter under advisement after Sweet serves three-years of probation and completes a drug treatment program.
If he successful completes the program, his charges will be reduced to a misdemeanor.
Sweet is scheduled to face similar charges in Roanoke County court Wednesday.
