Eyewitness News at 4 on the KSCW
She joined the KWCH Eyewitness News team in February of 2014 and works alongside the Eyewitness News This Morning crew starting at 4:30 a.m. every weekday morning.
She may not be a native Kansan, but Emily is no stranger to the wide open spaces and high winds often found here, as she was born and raised in the small (and windy) town of Floydada, Texas. Saying goodbye to a wonderful set of parents and two sisters, Emily set off to attend Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. While working on her degree, Emily also spent much of her time cheering on her Rams as an ASU Cheerleader. In a short three years, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from ASU with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and specialization in Broadcasting.
Emily knew her passion for news early on, so while in college she got her feet wet in the business by working as an evening producer for KSAN-TV, the NBC affiliate in San Angelo. There, she dabbled in all things broadcasting from producing, to live reporting and even forecasting weather! But upon graduation, Emily landed her first full-time reporting gig at KVII-TV, the ABC affiliate in Amarillo, Texas.
While working for KVII, Emily had the chance to help out one of their sister stations in Colorado Springs during the extended coverage of the Waldo Canyon Wildfires in 2012. She worked as part of a team that later was awarded a national Edward R. Murrow Award for Continuing Coverage of the fire.
In October of 2012, Emily was offered the Weekend Anchor/Weekday Reporter position for NewsChannel 10, the local CBS affiliate in Amarillo. After making the jump, Emily enjoyed hitting the streets getting to know the Panhandle people during the week, and spending some time as an anchor behind the desk on weekends.
Although she dearly loves her home state of Texas, Emily jumped at the opportunity to work for the #1 station in the Wichita, Kansas market. She joined the KWCH Eyewitness News team in February of 2014 and works alongside the Eyewitness News This Morning crew starting at 4:30 a.m. every weekday morning. Emily is very excited to join the KWCH family, get to know the Wichita area and the wonderful people of Kansas.
