She’s reported on major news events, covering the manhunt for the Tsarnaev brothers after the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013, President Obama’s 2013 Inauguration, and the Occupy Wall Street movements in Los Angeles and in Boston.
Deedee joined the KWCH-12 team in September 2015 as a reporter/ multimedia journalist and is excited to now call Wichita “home!” She comes to Kansas from Erie, PA, where she reported and fill-in anchored for WICU & WSEE (NBC and CBS affiliates) in Erie, PA, but her other experiences have taken her across the country and even across the pond.
Her internships include KABC in Los Angeles, WCVB in Boston, and CBS Network’s London Bureau, as well as a fellowship with KPHO in Phoenix.
She’s reported on major news events, covering the manhunt for the Tsarnaev brothers after the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013. A Japanese news station picked up the piece and her work aired in Tokyo. She also covered President Obama’s 2013 Inauguration and the Occupy Wall Street movements in Los Angeles and in Boston.
Deedee is a proud grad of Boston University (Go Terriers!), double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Economics. That’s where she found her calling for reporting, discovering the power of journalism and its power to bring positive change to communities.
She was born in Harbin (the northernmost major city in China), moved to Cambridge, MA when she was four years old, and grew up in central Illinois – so she’s a Midwestern girl at heart, and couldn’t be happier to be back in the Midwest!
As for hobbies, Deedee loves to travel – so far, she’s visited China a few times (of course), the U.K., Scotland, Spain, Germany, Greece, France, and Morocco, and she hopes to add many more places to the list. Cooking is another one of Deedee’s big hobbies. She also likes to try new foods and experiences, and enjoys outdoor adventures with friends.
She also loves to hear from viewers and is always on the lookout for a story. Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org for any recommendations or story ideas!
