She prides herself in her competitive spirit and ambition; she plans to carry those through Eyewitness News coverage by telling the stories that matter most to Wichita and the surrounding communities.

Katie Johnston joined the KWCH Eyewitness News Team shortly after graduating from Kansas State University in December 2016 with a BA in Digital Media and minor in Spanish. In college, she worked for Yahoo! Rivals affiliate GoPowercat.com covering Wildcat football and basketball and traveling to three consecutive bowl games.

Her undergraduate work earned her grand prize in the South Central Broadcast Society on-air TV talent category. Other work she produced during college took the 1st place award in the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Intern TV category. She prides herself in her competitive spirit and ambition; she plans to carry those through Eyewitness News coverage by telling the stories that matter most to Wichita and the surrounding communities.

She is no stranger to the Midwest. Katie grew up in the area and attended Maize South High School while going to as many Shocker volleyball and basketball games as she could. She was thrilled to join the KWCH news team in 2016 and work alongside professionals she watched for years. In her spare time, you might find Katie playing a competitive game of Mario Kart or maybe lounging at a local coffee shop.

Katie would love to hear from you! You can email her at kjohnston@kwch.com or tweet her @KWCHKatie to tell her what you'd like to see covered, or just what you love most about your community.
