Brewery opens in Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kan. (KWCH) If you live in Dodge city, you won't have to drive to Hays or Wichita to visit a brewery.

Jordan Lonnberg lives in Jetmore and recently moved from Wichita where she had more brewery options.

Friday was her first time checking out Dodge City Brewing with her coworkers. She's already found her two favorites.

"I definitely liked Uncle Johnnie's cream ale it's the easiest to drink but I really liked Pete's brown ale as well," said Lonneberg.

Co-owner, Larry Cook, has been brewing for 13 years. He realized southwest Kansas didn't have a business like this and the nearest brewery was in Hays or Colorado.

"I think there's a lot of craft beer drinkers out here and then there's other people that we can bring into the field and help them learn to enjoy craft beer as well. So, I think it's a good thing for downtown Dodge City and for southwest Kansas.

Don't worry though If you're not a beer person. You can still check out the brewery's five types of pizzas.

The brewery also has six types of beers from very light to fairly dark.
