Child dies after fixture falls on her at Payless Shoe store

RIVERDALE, Ga. (KWCH) A Georgia family is mourning after a mounted mirror fell on their 2-year-old inside a Payless Shoe store.

Ifrah Siddique was hurt shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday. Police say she was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

“We’re pulling through, said Aqib Iftkhar, a cousin of the girl. “Everybody is still grieving, and it’s really hard. We’re in a state of shock.”

Investigators say the incident happened at the Payless store in the 7100 of Georgia Highway 85.

The family told 11News that they believe the mirror was not secured. The mirror was so heavy her mother and another family member could barely pull it off of her.

“I have a four-year-old which is why I just had to help,” said witness Latisha Culpatrick. “I just saw blood, and I though she just had a seizure or something, but I didn’t know it was that bad.”

Payless has not issued a statement in regards to the incident.
