WICHITA, Kan. Starting Monday, September 19th, KSCW will expand Eyewitness News at 4:00 p.m. on KSCW to one hour. Along with sister station KWCH 12 and the CBS Evening News this will create a two and a half hour block of continuous local news, weather, and the latest national news from CBS.
“As the news leader on-air and online we’re committed to providing Kansas the latest and most accurate information,” News Director Brian Gregory said. “Going to an hour newscast allows us to stay with the big story when other stations aren’t. We’re able to keep Kansans up-to-date on the stories that matter most to them.”
With the expansion of the 4:00 p.m. newscast, KSCW increases its local news programming to 21 hours a week. Other news programs include Eyewitness this Morning at 7:00 a.m., Eyewitness News this Morning at 8:00 a.m., Eyewitness News at 9:00 p.m., and The Catch it Kansas Show. When combined with KWCH 12’s news and sports programs the Eyewitness News team will produce 51 hours of original news, sports, and weather programming a week.
“Local news has always been a priority for KSCW and KWCH 12,” Vice President & General Manager Brad Moses said. “Making Eyewitness News at 4:00 p.m. an hour allows us more time to provide context to the stories that impact Kansans and ensures that we’re able to stay on-air with breaking and developing news and weather without affecting programming.”
Eyewitness News at 4:00 p.m. on KSCW is a mix of the latest news and viewer feedback, sharing viewer comments from Facebook and Twitter and interactive weather reports from the Storm Team 12 Weather Watcher Network. The newscast is anchored by Emily Griffin and features live breaking news updates from Edward R. Murrow Award winning journalist Michael Schwanke.
KSCW also has a new block of lifestyle programming, featuring the Gracie award winning MomsEveryday, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. MomsEveryday kicks off the week airing on Mondays, with Happi House, Information for Your Life, and Today’s Homeowner airing Tuesday through Thursday, and the week wraps up with an encore of MomsEveryday on Friday.
MomsEveryday features real moms who discuss issues affecting parents and provide valuable tips for new and current moms. MomsEveryday also features local businesses with deals and tips to help moms.
