My Name is Eric Burns I am the Chef at Blarney Stone Irish Pub. I specialize in all genres of food that are focused on scratch recipes and original creative ideas. I was born in Wisconsin and I lived in Las Vegas for 14 years where I went to school and worked at a casino to be a chef. I am married with 3 kids 2 boys and a Girl. 9(boy) 7(girl) 4(boy). I have worked in every kind of kitchen imaginable and my kitchen now is focused on hiring cook who are wanting to try to cook for the first time. I look at it as a training type kitchen.
I am 29 and have lived in Kansas for 4 years and I am new to Wichita. Blarney Stone is the first place I have worked in Wichita running the kitchen.
RECIPE: TRUFFLED BUTTERNUT SQUASH TROTTLE & CHEESE
After retiring from 26 years in the United States Navy and as a IT professional locally, the self-proclaimed foodie opened his business fulfilling a much needed void in the area where high quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars where not available. After gaining much product and industry knowledge, launched Olio’s Market at 21st and Maize Road in October of 2013. Olio’s Market expanded in November of 2015 to include an eastside location at the corner of Central and Rock Road. Olio’s Market’s premise is to educate the public on the healthy benefits of a single varietal olive oil where you can experience the products first hand - a culinary playground for grown-ups.
In addition to selling a wide variety of single varietal olive oils, infused and fused olive oils, balsamic and white balsamic vinegars are also available. The store features a select line of spices, pastas, olives, and other gift items. They are able to provide great gift options for teachers, hostess, corporate, or family in all price ranges. Educational classes and tasting events are also available for private groups.

RECIPE: ROASTED ACORN SQUASH
Starting at the age of 12, John Michael has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry in London, North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Napa and Kansas. He has both an Associate and Bachelor’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, one of the foremost Culinary schools in the world, both with honors.
Since coming to Wichita, Michael has been a tireless teacher and advocate of food and wine. Now in his 5th year at Butler Community College, Michael has been awarded Outstanding New Teacher of the Year by the Kansas Council for Workforce Education in 2015 and this summer received 1st place in The National Pork Board’s “Be Inspire” Cooking Competition in Chicago, Illinois, as well as leading the culinary program to countless victories at local competitions.
