Suspicious device prompts school evacuations, lockdown

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (KWCH) A suspicious device found at Humboldt High School has prompted a lockdown on Wednesday.

School officials say high school and middle school students have been evacuated to the Elementary School while authorities investigate the device.

Staff said the the students are safe, and will be released at regular dismissal time at 2 pm. If you would like to pick up your student, they can be picked up by parent only.

Both the HS/MS buildings are on lockdown, all vehicles on school property, and personal items will not be accessible until the buildings are cleared by law enforcement.

All evening activities, district wide, are cancelled for today. Mini Cheer practice, ball practice, ect.
