Ron Baker calls out Mizzou player for slamming Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichita has put in a lot of work to become a great destination for the first round of the NCAA tournament, but all the hard work hasn't stopped the haters.

Cue Mizzou junior forward, Kevin Puryear.

"I was praying to God we didn't end up in Wichita. There is nothing in Wichita," he said in a press conference after the team landed in Nashville for the first round of the tournament.

The comment wasn't well-received especially by former Shocker, Ron Baker.

"Make your mark in March before you call out my city brotha! @CallMe_KP24 ! #WatchUs," said Baker onTwitter.

His former teammate Evan Wessel agreed.

"You were "praying to God" that you made the tournament...#slowyourroll #firsttimeforeverything #watchus," he tweeted.

Several Wichitans and Kansas also responded to Puryear's comment.

"Thank goodness Mizzou isn't playing in Wichita. They don't know how to have fun. Hope you lose bad, Kevin Puryear.
@Mizzouhoops," tweeted Debra Duncan.

"Puryear needs to focus on basketball and not sightseeing in March. With that attitude his schedule is going to clear up real quick," said Rando Calrissian.

"Old Town is awesome...and Barnes and Noble on Rock Rd! ;) I thought Mizzou was coming to play basketball...but hey, they can stay out and party, lose their game...who cares about you, Mizzou!" Said Julie Stover-King.

"a small forward with a big mouth - that is all," said Gary Brewer.

Eight teams have already descended on Wichita for the first round of the NCAA tournament which starts on Thursday at INTRUST Bank Arena.
