Affidavit details video evidence of child sex crime against former YMCA employee

WICHITA, Kan. A court document released to Eyewitness News Tuesday details the charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child against a former YMCA employee who, in a separate case, is accused of raping a 4-year-old girl.

The probable cause affidavit released Tuesday says Caleb Gaston's indecent-liberties-with-a-child charge involves a 3-year-old girl.

This incident, police say, happened several days before the alleged rape of the 4-year-old girl.

The affidavit says video from Jan. 24 shows Gaston's crime happened in the Kid Zone of the downtown Wichita YMCA. The affidavit says a Wichita police detective with the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit (EMCU) saw on that video Gaston pick up a crying 3-year-old girl and take her to the back part of the child care area after another employee came to the front counter.

On the video, the affidavit says Gaston can then be seen pushing down the girl's pants and underwear and inappropriately touching her.

The affidavit says Gaston is seen reaching into the girl's pants and underwear twice.

After he sat her down, the affidavit says the girl ran toward a female staff member. The girl stayed with two female staff members "upset and crying for the remainder of her stay at the YMCA," the affidavit says.

According to the affidavit, the girl's mother reported her daughter did not say anything about what happened and she did not notice any physical injury to the 3 year old.

Gaston remains in the Sedgwick County Jail, held on a $1.1 million bond for the charges against him.
