2 people, 1 dog rescued from east Wichita apartment fire

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Several residents have been displaced by an apartment fire near 21st and Oliver.

Firefighters were called out to the 4900 block of E. Shadybrook around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They saw smoke and flames come from one of the units.

Crews had to rescue two people from their unit. One suffered minor injuries but refused treatment. A dog was also rescued.

Firefighters say fire was contained to one room in the building. That room is now uninhabitable.

There was smoke damage to the first and second floors of the building which is why some many people are temporarily without a home.
