Police identify woman found dead in south Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Update: Police have identified a woman who was found dead in south Wichita as 26-year-old Sandra Flores.

Flores' body was found in the 2500 block of S. Seneca on Friday, March 17. Police say she had been shot one time.

They say they have no suspects at this time.

Update: Wichita police said a murder investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in south Wichita.

Someone walking near the 2500 block of S. Seneca spotted the 27-year-old woman and thought she needed help. Police said she died from a gunshot wound.

It is unknown where the shooting occurred and there are no suspects at this time.

Neighbors said they did not see or hear anything suspicious early Friday morning before the woman was found.

"I thought it was kind of scary," Curtis Oliphant said. "You know, that's just a stone throw away from our house. I got to thinking about what happened last night and I didn't hear anything, and the dog didn't make any noise."

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, prior to the 7:40 a.m., is asked to call 911.

The woman's death marks Wichita's fifth homicide of the year.
A woman's body was found Friday morning near Pawnee and Seneca.

Wichita police says someone called 911 around 7:40 a.m. to report a person lying in the parking lot of the Westway Plaza.

Officers arrived to find a woman in her late 20's lying in the parking lot.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about what happened to call 911.
