WINFIELD, Kan. (KWCH) A deadly crash near Winfield has people questioning the safety of one intersection.
Claudine Lundy, 76, of Burden, was killed on Tuesday near US-160 and K-15 when she failed to yield to and was struck by an oncoming semi.
Her vehicle rolled into the southeast ditch of the intersection. She died on the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
Many people who live in the area call US-160 and K-15 is a bad corner. They say a hill, east of the intersection, makes it hard to see oncoming traffic.
Sandi Myser says it's something she worries about daily when her daughter makes the drive.
"I heard about it and I was like, "Oh I hope she's already home from work.' But she passed it. She said she did come up on it, so that's even scarier, then with ice and weather it's even scarier," said Myser.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says there have been no reported crashes at the intersection since 2014.
It says it will review the accident report and the location once its completed and respond accordingly.
