Cineworld moves a step closer to buying Warren Theatres parent company

Less than one year has passed since Regal Entertainment purchased the Warren Theatres in Wichita

Now, the sale of Regal Entertainment is a step closer to happening.

The United Kingdom's Cineworld says the majority of its shareholders backed the $3.6-billion deal to purchase U.S.-based Regal Entertainment.

Cineworld says it expects to complete the deal on or before March 4,

Reuters reports "Cineworld agreed in December to buy Regal Entertainment through a reverse takeover funded with debt and a 1.7-billion pound ($2.42 billion) share sale."

"The acquisition will give the British company a presence in the U.S. market and transform it into the world’s second-biggest cinema chain by number of screens, with more than 9,500," Reuters reports.
