ROXBURY, Kan. (KWCH) Update-- 9:55 p.m.: No one was hurt, but two structures are down following a grain elevator fire in Roxbury in McPherson County.
The fire is out, and now crews are monitoring hot spots.
Initially, firefighters had an issue of having enough water, and they were concerned the fire could spread to houses and businesses. Thankfully, crews were able to get it under control before that happened.
Investigators are working to determine the fire's exact cause.
People in the area said the buildings hadn't been used in years, and crews were working Tuesday morning to tear them down.
"I was just hoping that there was no one there that was inside of that building," said Rose Clark, who worked in the building years ago.
She said even though it is about to be demolished, it is somewhat of landmark for Roxbury.
