KTA back open following fatal crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan (KWCH) One person is dead following a wreck along the Kansas Turnpike. It happened at around 1:30 Wednesday morning near the Derby exit.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, 41-year-old Robert Tanner of Wichita was trying to make a u-turn on the turnpike when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle.

KTA says Tanner was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old man from Topeka, was not hurt.

The Turnpike was closed northbound in that area for several hours, but is back open now.

No word on a cause for the crash.
